We joined the Walk for Awareness this morning; I enjoyed the feeling of connective strength.
Even if as individuals it can seem overwhelming; together we have the collective strength to build up awareness about mental health and take steps towards change.
Over two and a half thousand of us took eight kilometres worth of steps together this morning; many people walking in dedication to loved ones they have lost to suicide.
Mental health is a area of challenge for me; my mental hygiene (like daily walks, getting good sleep, eating well and doing the things I love) is one of my top priorities.
There is a stigma that keeps us from sharing this area of challenge with others; yet one in five of us are going through a similar challenge.
Offering understanding that mental health is a real challenge to maintain; and simply being heard are the things that others have done that have supported me most.
