there once was a woman so free
she made the birds feel trapped

as she soared in ecstasy and
and soaked her bones in tears
the birds watched and wondered
what it would be like to really fly

she laughed like the thunder
she marched like a tyrant
she frolicked like a deer
she swore like a sailor
and could make love for a whole year

she had a rhythm
a motion
that those around her would stop
and look
and wonder
where where where
could this woman have come from
and how how how
does she go on

the secret she told me
was her devotion
to breathing in and knowing love
and letting go with gratitude

her devotion to joy
and listening to the stories
the gods told her dancing body
with their whispering ways
